Alaina is amazing--I know I'm her mom, and I'm biased, but I really believe it! She never stops talking and is always asking questions about how things work and why things happen and what animals eat. She loves to hear how smart she is--but kinda 'dimisses' it when you tell her. She responds well to encouragement but doesn't show it. She is fun and sweet to her baby brother. She loves to play the same games over and over--like the rascally cat game (she attacks her dad with her stuffed animal cat). This summer she liked to play the 'new little girl' game. We would go for walks and she's pretend she didn't have a home and I'd adopt her. She'd sit on the side of the road acting all sad until I came along and 'saved' her. We put her in an acting class this fall--she did well and had lots of fun-they preformed a play at a retirement home. Discipline is a challenge because she gets REALLY emotional with the slightest amount of correction. She's a really good kid--wants to be good, but doesn't understand that she has to do things she doesn't want to do sometimes and do them without throwing a fit. Alaina loves to sleep--which creates a challenge in the morning, getting her up for school. We've got a system though, some mornings are better than others. She's so joyful and happy. She's got a great sense of humor and laughs a lot. She's taller than everyone in her class, but that is to be expected. She's getting more beautiful every day and looks a lot like me! :) Alaina is doing really well in kindergarten--learning to read which is so exciting! Soon Jesse and I won't be able to spell things out in front of her that we don't want her to know. She's also learning a little Spanish at school and comes homes singing new songs and telling us about games she played at school. Like most kids, some days she doesn't want to go, but it's usually because she wants to watch a movie or do whatever I'm doing that day. I'm so impressed with how well she's growing up and what a great person she is.
